KyANA Scholarships

KyANA sponsors three different AANA meetings each year to encourage student involvement in political issues that impact nurse anesthetists on both state and national levels.

  • AANA Mid-Year Assembly (April)
  • AANA Annual Congress (August)

Nurse anesthesia students who would like to apply for a scholarship to one of the meetings listed above will need to submit an online application. Sponsored students will attend the meeting as representatives of the state association. Each sponsored student may also submit a 500-word article and photo describing their experience at the meeting to be included in the KyANA Gasline Newsletter.  Meeting expenses up to the maximum limit may be submitted for reimbursement no later than 30 days post-meeting.

The program provides assistance to students involved in a nurse anesthesia program and CRNAs enrolled in doctoral studies. The AANA Foundation manages the Sandra Tunajek Scholarship and selects the winner. For more information, visit the AANA Foundation.
Application criteria: The student must be a resident of Kentucky.

GARY JENKINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – AANA MIDYEAR ASSEMBLY

We are pleased to announce that KyANA will be awarding six scholarships this year for the AANA Midyear Assembly, with an increased funding of up to $2,000 per awardee. This scholarship was created in honor of the late Gary Jenkins, CRNA, to provide an opportunity for students to learn more about advocating for the profession on Capitol Hill and advancing CRNA practice.

The AANA Mid-Year Assembly, our profession's largest advocacy event, will be held in Washington, D.C., from April 26 to April 30, 2025. This hands-on opportunity is designed to protect our practice, develop your career, and effect positive change for colleagues everywhere.

Applicants:

  • are accepted from any anesthesia student with a Kentucky residency.
  • Applications are also accepted from any student meeting these 3 criteria:
    • - Kentucky residence prior to CRNA school
    • - Kentucky RN license prior to CRNA school
    • - Clinical sites within Kentucky

We encourage all eligible candidates to apply for this exciting opportunity to advance their education and advocate for the profession. The deadline for application submissions is Sunday, December 1st. The Leadership Identification Committee will carefully review and grade the essays submitted, and we will award scholarships to the six applicants with the highest scores.
